LightingEurope LED guide gets update

LightingEurope has published an update to its guiding paper ‘Evaluating performance of LED based luminaires’.

The update is the first since the paper was published in 2018, and aims to bring it into line with thelatest technological developments within the industry, LightingEurope said.

The aim of the paper is to provide guidance to users (such as specifiers, lighting designers, technical engineers and policy makers) around LED-based luminaires intended for projects.

The document was originally developed to address the need to organise and harmonise the factors and data used to evaluate the performance of LED-based luminaires, LightingEurope said.

Elena Scaroni, secretary general of LightingEurope, added: “The amount of factors and data used in the lighting sector can be confusing for customers and policymakers.

“Promoting a harmonised way to allow a ‘like-to-like’ comparison and easy evaluation of manufacturers’ performance data is essential when preparing lighting projects or tender specifications. This document is key to improve understanding between customers, policymakers and manufacturers.”

This guiding paper is available for free download on the LightingEurope website, at https://www.lightingeurope.org/guiding-paper-evaluating-performance-of-led-based-luminaires-updated-january-2025
