ILP and Women’s Engineering Society in groundbreaking partnership

The ILP and Women’s Engineering Society’s (WES) have signed a groundbreaking partnership agreement to promote and support women working within both lighting and engineering.

Amanda Reece, Vice Chair of the WLP (Women Lighting Professionals), was joined by ILP President James Duffin at the annual WES Caroline Haslett Lecture and Awards Evening in December (pictured).

Together with WES chief executive Susan Robson and president Dr Katherine Critchley, they celebrated the signing of the partnership, which will enable and facilitate closer collaboration and the exchange of views between ILP and WES members.

This will include the sharing of content within each other’s newsletters, publications and other communication channels (including Lighting Journal), and the sharing of logos on respective websites.

‘The partnership stems from the longstanding relationship I’ve had personally with WES. I have long been passionate about celebrating female pioneers in engineering, electrical and, specifically, lighting,’ said Amanda.

‘For me, this partnership is about opening the ILP/WLP and WES up to wider collaborations plus enhancing the ILP’s connections, and profile, beyond just lighting. It is great of course to have, as we already do, partnerships with the Society of Light and Lighting and Women in Lighting, but it is also important that we are talking beyond lighting,’ she added.

‘This partnership brings together our two organisations with a shared commitment to strengthening the visibility, confidence and influence of women across technical professions,’ agreed Susan Robson.

Look out in the January edition of Lighting Journal for an article on the partnership and what it means for promoting and celebrating the contribution of women to both professions.
