How to be brilliant’ set to return next month

After a summer social gathering held during July, the ILP’s ‘How to be brilliant’ lighting events programme is set to return next month [September].

On 25 September, Hoare Lea’s Juan Ferrari, Chris Fox, Zoe Barkes, Joshua Welch and Megan McCormick will be speaking on ‘how to be brilliant at… visual communication’. This event will be held at the Lutron Experience in London.

The team will, as they put it, be talking about ‘how stunning lighting images and communicating through light is an art that goes beyond mere illumination’.

‘As lighting designers, we have the power to transform spaces, evoke emotions, and tell compelling stories through our designs. To excel in visual communication, start by deeply understanding the space and its purpose,’ they will explain.

‘This knowledge allows you to craft a lighting design that enhances the environment and meets the users’ needs. We will explore and share with you ways in which we can communicate through light and with light in a visual manner,’ the team will add.

Then, on 29 October, there will be a special gothic Halloween ‘How to be brilliant’, led by BDP’s Colin Ball and Lora Kaleva.

Finally, the 2024 programme will conclude in November at LiGHT24 where a team from DHA Designs will be speaking at the Business Design Centre in London’s Islington.

All the ILP’s ‘How to be brilliant’ events during 2024 are being kindly sponsored by BEGA, which enables them to remain free to entry.

The September edition of Lighting Journal will also include a review of Michael Grubb Studio’s fascinating talk on ‘How to be brilliant at… curating the concept’ during the Clerkenwell Design. So, watch this space!
