ILP members are being urged to submit papers for next year’s three Lighting Live events.
The call for papers is to gather in ideas for presentations and papers that members feel might be of interest.
While ideas on any topics are welcome, papers are particularly being sought on asset management, funding and investment, sustainability and the circular economy, skills, recruitment and retention, and innovation and emerging technologies.
Other key topics up for debate and discussion include local government reorganisation, adaptive lighting and CMS, and architectural lighting. Project case studies and worked examples are also always popular.
Members are being asked to submit their paper title, a short synopsis, the event they would prefer to speak at, and what sort of presentation it will be (for example a standard 30-minute technical paper versus a shorter 15-minute mini technical paper).
All submissions will be peer reviewed by the ILP’s event technical committee, and should be submitted to ILP Technical Manager Guy Harding by email at guy@theilp.org.uk. The deadline for submissions is no later than Friday 20 November.
The call follows ILP Chief Executive Justin Blades using the London and South East Region’s ‘Electric Avenue’ event in September to announce that the ILP will be launching a third Lighting Live event during 2027.
The Lighting Live – Innovation and Technology event will be held in the autumn, with the date and venue still to be confirmed but likely to be during September.
It will, Justin said, be an opportunity for members to come together to consider the cutting-edge innovations driving improvements and change within lighting and how best the industry should respond. “Watch this space for more information in the coming months,” he told members.
As a reminder, the dates for next year’s Lighting Live Annual Conference in Gateshead have also now changed.
The annual conference will now take place from Wednesday 14-Thursday 15 July rather than, as had previously been announced, 23-24 June.
This followed a review of the event schedule which meant a decision had to be taken to move the conference.
The conference venue – the Hilton Newcastle Tyne Bridge – remains unchanged, however.
The event will still feature two days of high-level CPD and networking, an exhibition space, and a glittering black-tie dinner, and Lighting Journal will of course provide more updates during next year.
Finally, the countdown is now firmly on for Lighting Live – Local Authority.
The all-day CPD event is due to be held on Thursday 4 February, once again at the Mercure Daventry Court Hotel in Northamptonshire.
Doors will open from 9am, with the event bringing together local authority lighting teams and the wider ILP membership to discuss the challenges, and opportunities, currently facing the public sector in particular.
