LUCI Cities & Lighting Awards 2026 jury announced

The LUCI Association has announced the jury who will select next year’s LUCI Cities & Lighting Awards.

The international network of cities devoted to urban lighting, of which the ILP is a member, holds its Cities & Lighting Awards every two years, with the winners of the 2026 edition set to be announced at a ceremony in Oulu, Finland, between 25-27 February 2026.

The prestigious awards are designed to showcase and celebrate high-impact urban lighting projects that have had positive effects on the economic, social, and cultural development of cities.

The deadline for entries to the 2026 edition is still open, and runs until 1 October this year. Full details on how to enter can be found at https://www.luciassociation.org/luci-cities-lighting-awards/

The judging panel who will choose the 2026 winners will be:

  • Olli Rantala, head of innovation at the City of Oulu.
  • Chiara Carucci, founder and principal lighting designer, Noctua (Italy).
  • Alberto Barberá Duelo, senior lighting designer, Anoche, and cluster manager, CICAT (Spain).
  • Sara Castagné, chief executive officer and lighting designer, Concepto (France).
  • Youngho Baik, chief consultant, ECOLANT (South Korea).

The winners of the 2024 edition had the opportunity to present their projects during the Cities & Lighting Awards Ceremony held at the Lyon Light Festival Forum of that year, which included 170 participants from 19 countries, said LUCI.

That year’s awards were won by the city of Genoa in Italy for its ‘Lighting for Genoa’ project, with the city of Eskilstuna in Sweden taking second place for its Hamngatan and MDU plaza (in a project led by 2026 jury member Chiara Carucci).

Third place went to the city of Bologna, in Italy, for the new lighting for its arcades, gates and historic city centre.
