‘Lighting in sync’ to be at the heart of this week’s LiGHT25

The countdown is well and truly on to this week’s LiGHT25, which will include the team from Foster + Partners presenting a special ILP How To Be Brilliant.

Alexandra Kogia, lighting designer, and Murat Demirer, associate, at Foster + Partners will be speaking on the second day (Thursday 20 November) of the light exhibition and expo at London’s Business Design Centre in Islington.

Their talk, ‘Lighting in sync – lighting design in a multidisciplinary context’, will encompass how they see light as a fundamental element, connecting people and architecture and shaping immersive experiences within the built environment.

The design process of lighting designers is inherently collaborative, Alexandra and Murat will argue.

Working side by side with clients and architectural teams, lighting designers work to understand the project’s aspirations, contribute creative ideas, evaluate design options, propose technical solutions, and identify opportunities to achieve design excellence through light.

The talk, from 10.45am in the Associations’ Lounge, will be one of the highlights of the two-day expo, which runs from Wednesday 19 November through to Thursday 20 November.

Alexandra and Murat’s talk will be the final How To Be Brilliant presentation of 2025, but the programme will return in 2026, and will again be generously sponsored by Lutron, which allows it to remain free to attend.

As well as talks in the Associations’ Lounge, there will be a packed programme of ‘darc thoughts’ CPD across the two days. There will also be three exhibition zones: architectural, decorative and technical.
