From the edition – ‘A BRILLIANT YEAR’

The ILP’s How To Be Brilliant programme for 2025 concluded in November, with a talk by the team from Foster + Partners at LiGHT25. But it will return from March, with a full new programme of inspiring lectures for 2026.

After a break over the festive season, How To Be Brilliant is set to return with a bang on 10 March, when renowned lighting designer Rebecca Weir, creative director of Light IQ, will be speaking at the Lutron Experience Centre in London.

The How To Be Brilliant programme concluded for 2025 at LiGHT25 in November, where Alexandra Kogia and Murat Demirer from the Foster + Partners Architectural Lighting team discussed ‘Lighting in sync – lighting design in a multidisciplinary context’ (pictured above).

Their talk was one of the highlights of the second day of the two-day expo and exhibition at London’s Business Design Centre in Islington. Look out in the February edition for a review of their fascinating presentation.

For 2026, Rebecca (pictured below) will kick off what is set to be a busy 12 months of inspirational talks, once again generously sponsored by Lutron, which allows the talks to remain free to entry.

The Lutron Experience centre is located 125 Finsbury Pavement in London, and doors will open from 6pm. The nearest tube is Moorgate. Do check online for updates closer to (and see the link below).

Rebecca said of her talk: ‘It is an honour to kick off the 2026 season of How To Be Brilliant. As a young designer attending the lectures I was in awe of the quality and creativity of the work and the openness and empathy of the lecturers.

‘It is what I love about the lighting industry! The support and networking provided by the ILP creates an incredibly inspirational learning platform,’ she added.

Rebecca’s talk will be followed by further How To Be Brilliant lectures throughout 2026, with events currently pencilled in for April, in June just before this year’s Lighting Live Annual Conference in Birmingham, and for the autumn.
